Simon and the girls went for a walk and came home with a truckload of flowers. It's spring. Yay.

When they got home they pulled all the petals off the flowers and made a rainbow. Then the next day Simon and Mikah made the rainbow circle above.

When he went out, Mikah and Madz made the Mandala below.

The other day while I perused the growing garden and snuck raspberries without anyone looking, Ruby quietly and independently discovered the sensation of squishing freshly laid darkies mixed with driveway stones between her tiny fingers and Mikah happily fiddled with this game on the world wide websterville:

Meanwhile Hila commandeered Xaemon to assist her in the construction of a butterfly for our friend Flavia. Her daughter, Natasha (like any self respecting four year old girl) loved butterflies.

At 10pm, after busily busying themselves for as long as they possibly can to avoid the dreaded inevitable despite all attempts to talk them into it any sooner, their eyes and bodies finally finally succumb to the sweet sweet sound of the hiss and hum of the day being left behind and the night creeping creeping creeping softly as they drop drop drop into the world of dreams and nothingness. This fight (with themselves, not us, might I add) to the bitter end occurs daily as never will they admit to themselves their own flialing strength. Then the house is silent and their mother could too be sleeping soundly in her big comfortable bed readying herself for the onslaught of the day ahead, she too sits up ignoring ignoring her own body's signals - the droopy eyes, the tired back, the hardly got through the last day feeling - just because, just because she feels like it. Tapping tapping at the keyboard, in her own mind, no one to distract or clutter or need her. just because there is always more more more to do to do to do................

Hila (5), Mikah (4), Madeline (7 yr old neighbor) and Rhiana (5) found a dead baby hedghog under the trees. They decided to bury it and worked together solidly for well over an hour to complete the task. Hila made the coffin out of paper, Madeline started a headstone out of limestone (still in progress) and they all carted and sprinkled dirt and flowers. Simon was enlisted to pick up said baby hedgehog with spade and deliver to the burial site. Once the task was complete, a group handwashing escapade was followed up with crackers spread with avo and tomato eagerly gobbled whilst huddling round the grave. Later on, Hila found and recovered an old garden gnome from the back of the weeds and carefully placed him to watch over their wee friend.
